For those of you in RCI Points, I just found out the old 7-day, hopper unlimited use tickets are still available using points. Don't know how long this will last. I just called earlier today expecting to buy 2 of the new 10-day ones at a higher point price. They were 34000 points plus the booking fee. Just thought I would pass it on incase anyone was interested. I had some points that were going to expire so decided to use them this way. Thanks to CZ for that idea!!Patty ------------------ It’s these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of our running and all of our cunning If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane - Buffett IP: Logged |

It was 34,000 each ticket as compared to the $646 two tickets would have cost from WDW. I considered it a deal as compared to letting the points go to waste. My other option was air tickets to NY for June which would not been as good a deal. Also have to keep in mind your cost of points, but with a Aussie week as the points source, it is comparatively cheap.Hey Bruce- When our two weeks in Cayman last fall was canceled due to the hurricane and some of the points went back into my account, I realized they had to be used up this year. Since we already had everything booked for this year and were working on 2006, I was looking for something to use them on. I remembered you talking about Disney tickets. Well since David's kids & G-kids live east of Tampa and we go down there 2-3 times a year, I thought it would be a good thing to get for future usage. They all have the annual state resident passes and when we took the G-kid last year it was a real bite to pay the walk up cost for the two of us. So thanks to you, I'm feeling like I got a deal. We don't go a lot to Disney, but can easily use 7 days over a couple of years of trips. Thanks for the tip. Aren't Tuggers great!! Patty, you are absolutely correct in stating that it depends on how low your cost per RCI Point is. If I remember right I would guess that you saved about $200 on those tickets in using your points instead of cash.Sorry to hear you lost that vacation of yours. In 2004 which was just our first year of being in RCI Points we have booked 8 airplane tickets costing us only 320,000 RCI points which saved us about $1,800. Those savings I would belive are non taxable compared to our rental profits which are. We exspect to save big time on Disney tickets the next time when take the grandkids to Disney World, and really big time if we fly to Hawaii at 70,000 RCI points per ticket. But IMHO it is not fair what they are doing to the people who are just in RCI weeks. Also the points assigned on the genaric weeks points gird is to low compared to the outlandish overblow point values given to most of the points resorts. If I had to guess, I imagine they are selling the new style tickets by now. So I would assume that the pricing is different than when I bought at the first of the year. I would check the pricing on the Disney discount sites so you have a reference point. Then call the number listed on the RCI site under the points partners section. They were very helpful to me. Pattyif you are purcasing any multi day pass make sure of the experationdate. to the best of my knowlege mutiday passes are one good for 2-4 weeks after first use. so if you go for only one day on a 4 day pass the next 3 days are only good for use in the next 2 or 3 weeks after that first date of use. ------------------ the one and only lazydog lives here IP: Logged |

The old multiday passes never expired. You could use them years later. The only exception I'm aware of is some special types of passes, such as convention passes, that did have an expiration date. The new Magic Your Way tickets expire unless you pay extra to add the no expiration option. The "new" passes RCI is selling for Points are non-expiring. They are labled "Premium," and are similar (but not exactly the same as) to the ones they used to sell.Fern ------------------ Fern Modena ©My words are my own, please don't use them without my permission. IP: Logged |
