I'm trying to plan a family vacation for 20 or so people ranging in age from 5 years old to 70 years old. I was thinking a cruise or an all inclusive resort would work better than trying to rent a house or hotel rooms. This way the food is prepaid and no agruments on where to eat each evening. I came across Beaches Resorts and wondering if anyone has stayed there? What is their service like? Is there enough to do Turk & Caico for a week? Any advice would greatly be appreciated!Tina ------------------ You can see my timeshare photos here: http://community.webshots.com/user/ciscogizmo IP: Logged |

We stayed just down the beach at The Alexandra on one of the most gorgeous beaches I have ever seen. Two friends of ours, also staying at Alexandra, Sandy & Clay Lovell, are travel agents and had day access to Beaches. They spent many hours down there diving and many free dinners while we were in T&C. Perhaps Sandy can better answer. The one evening we went down there to dinner with Sandy, I have to say the dinner was great and the service that we had at the bar & restaurant was fine.Patty ------------------ It’s these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of our running and all of our cunning If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane - Buffett IP: Logged |

We stayed at the Allegro (which is now gone) a little less than 4 years ago, and talked to many who stayed at Beaches. The food and service were reportedly good. They did say that it was very noisy, because there were LOTS of kids. Grace Bay is incomparably beautiful, but as for the island, only go there if you don't want anything else other than a beautiful beach and sun with plenty of R&R. There is, quite literally, nothing to do or see on Provo. Scuba was just OK, and the boat rides to the sites (other than Grace Bay, which is certainly not scuba at its finest) were super long and rough.------------------ --Cat IP: Logged |

Thanks everybody... I never thought of looking at tripadvisor... They have a lot of bad reviews. So, am I right in assuming that there isn't much to do on the island except a lot of R&R? Tina, what type of activities are you looking for? I absolutely love it there and we bought a 2nd week at The Alexandra when we went last Oct. It's definitely more low key than Maui. We don't do much more in Maui, though. The beach is amazing. My kids would play in the water for hours each day. There's plenty of snorkeling. Can take parasail rides. Sunset cruise. Fishing. There is one golf course on the island which passed my husband's approval (avid golfer). There are many wonderful restaurants - you can't eat at all of them in a week. We took a day trip to Middle Caicos to the limestone caves. Also, they were having opening night of a new casino the last weekend we were there. Can't really tell you much about it since I had the kids w/me and couldn't go.A client went with her family to Beaches and they really enjoyed it (maybe 3 yrs ago?). Also, there will be a lot more activities going on at Beaches - that's part of what they do there. It is packed with families and is probably the most crowded part of then entire beach. But I haven't heard any major complaints. We leave for T&C in 75 days . . and counting! Christy IP: Logged |

You better not be at work today, Girl!!! My dh is golfing right now. Hope you are enjoying the end of tax season. Wow, you travel alot. I thought we were the only family that traveled. Most people look at us funny when we say we are going on vacation, again. That we don't even tell anyone any more. ARe you still going to Maui in July? Anyways, we don't mind hanging out on the beach. It always seems like at home we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off. So, it is nice to sit and do nothing. However, the crowd we are traveling with some are more into sightseeing than water sports and hanging on the beach. I'll have to see what is in everyone's budget. You kinda got me curious, I'm gonna have to check out this Alexandria place. Hope it trades in II. The Beaches website looked beautiful. I think, we'll just have to go there ourselves. Tina, you're funny. Nah, I pretty much played hookey on Monday. Was so worn out over the weekend I didn't even want to talk to anyone. You guys sound like us - it's great to just crash on vacation. I bet you'd like The Alexandra. It's not a Starwood level property, but it's nice enough. Clean and comfortable. The people at the resort are really friendly and there's only 32 TS units right on the beach. The resort just converted to II last year.I've managed to get us up to 4-5 wks of vacation/year. Spread out between deadlines. I kind of lay low now, too, about telling anyone we're leaving. But hey, other people have boats and second homes and other toys. Our choice is vacations. We're still going to Maui from 7/23 to 7/30. Are you there that whole week or only part of the time? Looking forward to meeting you :-) I'll be the one calling for the endless supply of rum drinks! Exactly, I don't own a boat or motorhome or a second home (although my timeshares are considered my 2nd home). Friends of ours own a $100k motorhome and they are only in their 30's so, they don't use it much but to take short weekend trips.. Weird... Anyways, yes we'll be there July 23rd to July 30th.. We'll have to meet at the pool and have a few drinks. I could handle some frozen midori sours by the pool. Ahhhh.... I can't wait. Hi Sandy here, yes the Sandy from Patty's (Caribbean) posting. We ate at many of the restaurants and found them really good. As Patty mentioned, we did not stay at the resort, but stayed at the Alexandra and used our Sandals day passes, as we are Certified Sandals Specialists and as a result, get free day passes. However we did inspect all of the room types, and had a guided tour of the entire resort. Beaches could be a great choice for a variety of reasons. It can cater to a wide variety of age groups. Child Care is provided at no additional charge. As are all of the Toddler, Teen, and Adult activities. T&C is a good choice if you just want to lounge around and take advantage of the resort. There is not much to see other than water and beach. Just so you know, I am also the Agent who organizes the TUG Cruise. If you want some assistance send me an email with your phone number and I can see if I can help you out with more specifics.
