how do your kids handle hotel rooms? if they can calm down and sleep, go for the two days, since there are lots of ride and shows as well as the water park part. otherwise, stick with one, since if the kids are up late the first night, they'll just be a cranky mess the 2nd days.

if you do stay over, one exit up north, the Bowling Green/Carmel Church exit, has 3 hotels right near the exit. all similar enough, pretty basic. one is connected to the Aunt Sarah's Pancake House which we always enjoy. You can find some coupons in those travel pamphlets you get in the rest areas, though you can probably get the same deals online.

look at local grocery stores for discounts---and most summers blockbusters has $29 tickets. I say 2 days. The ticket is good for the theme area and also for a GREAT water park---nice areas for kids your ages. For hotels, Fredericksburg in only 30 minutes or less away---with lots of choices, so consider there, as well for lodging, if others don't pan out---the ones near KD are pretty barebones. If you are going for 2 days and don't get decent discounts, consider a season pass, esp. after Aug1, b/c a lot of time, the sell the 2006 pass starting in aug and you could go again next year for free.
