I own a 4BR lockout in Williamsburg, Greensprings Plantation Resort. This allows 2 weeks vacation in the weeks program. My understanding is that Greensprings is a weeks only resort. I would like to convert to points (maybe RCI points?). If I buy (on resale) into a points resort, does this make my Greensprings weeks eligible for points? I saw in the RCI points resort directory that 41,500 points are required to stay at this resort in red time, which is the time I own. Does this mean that I would have 83,000 points? I think being in the points program could be beneficial, but I know almost nothing about it or how to get in. IP: Logged |

To join RCI points you must own a week at an RCI points resort. The week must have been converted to points or you could have it converted to points. The cost varies but there are a few resorts that do inexpensive conversions. You can do a TUG search to dig up some names.Greensprings Plantation Resort is not a points resort and this is a good thing because, RCI allows its points owners to deposit non points weeks at no charge in return for points. So, yes you would be able to deposit your week with RCI Points (once you join) and get 83,000 points. If your MF is below $800.00 you are in business because we on tug suggest a MF to points cost of a penny a point. Remember though that the "Points for Deposit" program can go away at any time. ------------------ A Toast: Champagne to our real friends & real pain to our sham friends. I agree with blueboy and I also researched the points option here on TUG in order to get better value for my weeks. There are ways to get into points relatively inexpensively. Once you do that, you can deposit your weeks into the points account. Depending on where you purchase your points, you can do quite well. Do a little research, ask questions, and soon you will get a better feel for the possibilities. sandy ------------------ Sandy IP: Logged |

Greensprings is a Sunterra resort. You could also consider joining Club Sunterra for their point system. Many people love it. I probably would too if we had enough points to work with, which we don't. Anyway, it's another option for you to consider. If you post what week you own, I could look it up to see how many sun-options it should be worth. Be aware that there's a charge for converting to points with Sunterra, also. IP: Logged |

Points for Deposit is sort of a perk for points owners. Although there is no indication that the program will be discontinued, as points owners we operate under the assumption that it could be discontinued at any time. ------------------ A Toast: Champagne to our real friends & real pain to our sham friends. No question that Points for Deposit benefits RCI Point participants. The question in my mind is 'is it offered for the benefit of RCI Point participants or for the benefit of RCI'. If the former, it could disappear at anytime. If the later, it may never go away. How could it benefit RCI? I don't know. Maybe it is a source of weeks for them to rent. Who knows?
