Nope, as long as you don't permanently save your new search, your existing will be continue after you log out.I just exit the window completely when I'm done manually searching. I'm almways very interested in this discussion and always learn something! This time I learned 1) Jim usually gets what he wants in SW Flroida - "eventually" - and how to do it! 2) PS - he advised me earlier this year how to get a week in SE FL based on all our available choices, and it worked, granted the end of Feb, but we do have a place on Marco Is for the family get together. 3) NE Florida is the last choice of interest, generally, but we ourselves love St Augustine! 4) All of FL seems booked up more than it used to. I am surprised too! Joan www.home.earthlink.net/~joandungey/ ------------------ Joan IP: Logged |

Another slow day at the lake--too nasty to go out in the TUGboat and chase bald eagles.Exploring January in Florida further, weather is most likely the major determining factor as to what areas of Florida are most popular. That is why folks go to Florida in January to begin with. With an upcoming trip, I checked the average daily temperatures where we are going, and then just decided to live recklessly and check all the areas included in "Resorts on the Beach." Not surprisingly, the warmest areas are the most popular. The following are the average daily highs and lows for Week 2: Key West 76/65 Ft. Lauderdale 76/59 Naples 75/54 Sarasota 75/54 Daytona Beach 70/47 Destin 61/36 It's also kinda strange that Florida's two coldest months are such popular months for Resorts on the Beach. Notice how much warmer the low is in Key West. Balmy days/Balmy nights. For the same timeframe the daily high and low in Lihue, HI, is 79/68. Although Hawaii temperatures are more even throughout the year than Florida, the "coldest" months in Hawaii are also the most popular. Like I said--slow day. ------------------ JLB Credentials: >15 years timesharing/>75 exchanges/multiple weeks/long-time independent TUG contributor/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Areas of Knowledge and Interest: Timesharing:Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching/Resort Management/Newbies/Florida(>30years)/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/ Iowa/Ohio/Florida Other:Finance/Law/Real Estate/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living [This message has been edited by JLB (edited 12-10-2004).] IP: Logged |

Well, the more I look, the more I see, or don't see, that I don't wanna see, or wanna see but it's not there. We have been going to Florida in January for many years. We have stayed in the SE, SW, Tampa, NE and Orlando. In most of those areas it has been a pretty slow month. The Tampa area beaches, Daytona area, and Orlando have always been very slow, very much off-season weeks. But now, looking at "Florida" for next month, there are only 8 resorts anywhere. For January, 2006, there are 96 resorts available. So, is it becoming another of those things where if you search well ahead there is no problem, but by the actual use dates just about everything has been taken? Or is it a glitch? Or is stuff going somewhere else? If the conflict of interest with the exchange company did not exist, between making exchanges and selling rentals, this concern would not exist, we would not have to wonder. It's sorta like this thread below, where we can't talk about availability without seeing stuff being offered to non-owners, non-members: http://www.tug1.net/tugbbs1/Forum14/HTML/003242.html Edit (added): My concerns are not eased when I go to the following site and see that the most plentiful source for next month is rentals to non-owners, non-members, for prices hundreds of dollars (actually in some cases, as much as $1200) per week higher than for exchanges.
The conflict is there and the temptation is there, so . . . http://www.rcihnresorts.com/RT_partners/ENG/RT_partn ers_wrapper_eng?method=search&searchsource=quicksearch&logsearch=false ------------------ JLB Credentials: >15 years timesharing/>75 exchanges/multiple weeks/long-time independent TUG contributor/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Areas of Knowledge and Interest: Timesharing:Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching/Resort Management/Newbies/Florida(>30years)/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/ Iowa/Ohio/Florida Other:Finance/Law/Real Estate/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living [This message has been edited by JLB (edited 12-16-2004).] IP: Logged |

Sorry.I have been monitoring Florida for several years and this thread, with the results, is in it's third generation. I did not start it, the first one, however many months ago that was, with the intention of it being a "bashing" thread and don't want it to become one now. But, when stuff that used to be there no longer is, and I try to figure out why, and I find stuff elsewhere, how can I not be suspicious, or at least mention it? ------------------ JLB Credentials: >15 years timesharing/>75 exchanges/multiple weeks/long-time independent TUG contributor/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Areas of Knowledge and Interest: Timesharing:Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching/Resort Management/Newbies/Florida(>30years)/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/ Iowa/Ohio/Florida Other:Finance/Law/Real Estate/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living IP: Logged |

I am resisting taking this string down that never-ending dark road, "tanking" it myself, but I still feel obligated to report what I am seeing. Again, I am appealing to just let me report the evidence without any of us getting too preachy. Except for me , of course, since I have a license to preach ad infinitim. If you feel the need to do that, please start a new thread, in which you may include a link to this one. Thanks. Nothing has happened to SW FL for next month. But, as you can see above I have expanded my searches to see what is going on with ALL of Florida. On 12/16 I reported that there were 8 resorts available for next month in ALL of Florida. Today, three days later and 13 days before the first checkin date, there are 29 resorts available!!!! I'm dumbfounded. Where did all of that come from? It's not a 45-day window thing because my searcher can see everything all the time. I don't believe it's because a bunch of folks just got their maintenance bills in the last three days and decided to late-deposit weeks less than 30 days off. But, that's possible if the exchange company still accepts weeks up until 14 days before start date. The simple question, which no one would answer if you asked, is, "Where did this stuff come from?" If the conflict did not exist, between offering rentals to the public and exchanges to members, I would not be so inclined to think that perhaps it is deposits that had been offered as rentals up until now, and they did not get taken, and now they are being offered to member/owners. Sorta a reverse "excess weeks". Just reporting the evidence. ------------------ JLB Credentials: >15 years timesharing/>75 exchanges/multiple weeks/long-time independent TUG contributor/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Areas of Knowledge and Interest: Timesharing:Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching/Resort Management/Newbies/Florida(>30years)/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/ Iowa/Ohio/Florida Other:Finance/Law/Real Estate/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living IP: Logged |

OK. What's going on. Today is 12/20/04. For SW Florida for 12/28/04-2/1/05, I have not seen more than 2 resorts available since 5/2/04. Most days it has been 1 or Zero. Today suddenly there were seven, including a Gold Crown on Marco Island, which disappeared within five minutes of when I first saw it. All checkins today are for the first weekend in '05.On 12/16/04, as reported that day in this thread, there were 8 resorts for all of Florida in that timeframe. Today there are 50. Most of these are for the first weekend checkins. 12/20/04 Searches
- - - - - - SW FL 12/28/04-2/1/05: "The following 6 Resorts have availability during your requested time frame." Including: Lighthouse Resort & Club 3285 Sanibel Island, FL, USA 6/6 01/01/2005. There was also a Charter Club on Marco Island, which disappeared before I could document it. - - - - - - Resorts on the Beach 12/28/04-2/1/05: "The following 16 Resorts have availability during your requested timeframe." - - - - - - Florida 12/28/04-2/1/05: "The following 50 Resorts have availability during your requested timeframe." Including stuff like Orange Lake Country Club 0670 Kissimmee, FL, USA 8/2 12/31/2004 - 01/08/2005, and there was a three bedroom that disappeared before I could document it. - - - - - - So, where did this stuff come from and why has it not been available until today, 11 days before start date?

I assume that was said way back yonder in this thread.I also assume it is referring to RCI Points members taking exchanges from the Weeks members' pool, which they are allowed to do. Weeks members are not allowed to take anything, or even view, the Points pool. That's a discussion for the BSR and exchanging boards, and there are a couple of them going on now.
