Roger, Carolinian asked for an answer to his question at 5:51pm EST yesterday. To write another post at 7:55am EST this morning demanding a response because Madge has "purportedly" ignored him is out of line. It's not unheard of that people work a standard nine to five day. Give the woman a chance to get to her desk and sift through the questions posed to her since her last post. ------------------ Danielle

One person in particular is not only harassing the guests, he(?)is attacking at least one person who said something positive. This is absolutely unacceptable. All responses should be on topic and not personal. I had hoped that this "Madge" board especially could be policed better, since one bad apple was bound to start railing against the universe. I saw an answer to a question that I also had about Canadian searches in points. I did not find it completely satisfying, but I can live with it. But one person in particular whines about answers to questions that they did not even ask. They are definitely NOT entitled to do that continually. That person's topics of complaint change at random. As far as his(?) questions are concerned, since no respect is shown, and no answer would ever be acceptable, then no answer should be given. He(?) has an e-mail address for Madge. Use it. I really do not want to see these constantly derogatory shotgun-style posts by ONE person in particular every time I go to read Madge's answers. Since no one else said it let me put it this way "harasser" - not only has the horse died, the carcass is rotten, and the stick you are beating it with has turned to dust.[This message has been edited by ElaineJ (edited 01-16-2003).]

Are you assuming that the salesman that told me that in 5 years there will only be points available because most "Weeks" owners will convert to "Points" is doing the lying? I think someone is lying, either the salesman, the owner of the resort, or RCI. I'm asking RCI which one is doing the lying.

I just tried again and still can't get an account. Ed, how do I get to the Ask Madge Thread? I tried again this AM and still no luck. Thanks for all your help.Reply to EdB The problem is it took 2 weeks to get a pin number. I now have the number and I can't an account. I have tried both ways (RCI.com or working from a bookmark) and still can't get an account to use. By the way thanks to 3 sons in the computer business I have the latest Microsoft Interenet Explorer, but I don't think thats the problem as I can enter all the info and it comes back "Due to internal error, the system is unavailable" Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I'm retired and like to see what's available as we can travel on short notice. Reply from EdB Ah, I see, Tom. I think you need to just be patient for another few days. You might want to post your question in the Ask Madge thread. I think there are quite a few login issues that RCI needs to address.

Madge,While you are working on the RCI Website, I would like to make a request that you separate the Bonus Vacations from Rentals. Since I cannot use Bonus Certs on Rentals they are NOT technically Bonus Vacations and should be housed under a separate module. An even better solution is to allow members to use their bonus certificates or one-plus-one certs on both the Bonus Weeks and the Rentals. Now that would really be going to elaborate lengths ... quote:

Elaine - Let's not get in to all of the personal back and forth between the Points advocates and the defenders of Weeks. I find it strange that you think Susie's snide comment about me is something ''positive''.As to the last post, this is not just repeating a question. It is responding to Susie's assertion that Madge had given a complete answer, and explaining why she had not. If Susie had not jumped in, I would not have made that last post.

Hi EDBMy comments about RCI only wanting views from USA customers has nothing whatsoever to do with your comments but with other comments I have read on here. By the way I have been informed by RCI that all Global questions will be answerred and I thank RCI very much indeed for this.

Madge--can you tell me why it looks like the inventory for Bonus Vacations has dropped sharply--since we have the new RCI.com. I have looking particularly at the inventory for St. Martin in the Caribbean. Thank you for your time. Karen

Madge,Points may be held and accumulated in an account for 24 months and then, if not used, they are removed. I am in points to use them for airfare and am finding that no flights are available at or near the time that I would like, even ten months in advance of actual travel. If you cannot provide a product to me, why should my account be penalized for not being able to expend the points? Will this policy change? Or will I be forced to use my points for things that I do not want? If airfare will not be provided on a fairly reliable basis, why offer it as an incentive for points buyers? Thank you for your help with this issue. Gil

Madge,One other issue that some of the Points members have expressed concern about on the TUG points board is the rising number of points required for air tickets. Apparently there have been several steep increases on Hawaii and Caribbean tickets, and perhaps others. Since the cash prices for air tickets have generally remained static (the Atlanta Journal has an article today that reports ''average airline fares are DOWN''), as have the number of air miles necessary for award tickets, what possible justification can there be for these increases in points needed for air tickets from Points members? Although I am not personally a fan of Points, I'm sure TUG's Points members would like to hear RCI's explanation of that one. [This message has been edited by Carolinian (edited 01-16-2003).]

I am sorry if this is the case but if this is so could you please tell me what European members can do to air problems as your customer service does not work very well. If you advise me that this section is just for USA members then I will not post anymore messages but I thought we were all part of the same world and the same company RCI. As stated in both my postings yesterday I am happy with RCI points and what it can do for members with a couple of exceptions which I posted as I know these are important to my fellow European members.
Hello, it's Madge!
Answers via Ask Madge are indeed for all RCI members globally. Sorry to have given any other impression -- I'm answering as fast as I can! ![](http://www.tug1.net/tugbbs1/eek.gif) ~ Madge

My question is would it be possible to make all weeks, regardless of how RCI obtained them, available to dues paying members for exchange, assuming that they had sufficient trade power? What about as a rental? I know that I would be upset if I saw that non -members had access to weeks through RCI affiliates that I did not. I would not mind seeing a top quality resort offered somewhere else if I knew that I also had a shot at it with a top trader. After all, I do pay a yearly dues fee plus the exchange fees plus all the other fees that RCI imposes. Membership should have its advantages. Thanks in advance.
Hi there, Madge here! Rental space is available only for rental -- because RCI pays for some of this inventory, and uses some of it to offset Points Partner and cruise exchange costs, we must collect rental revenue for this space. It is not included with one-for-one exchange inventory. ~ Madge

However I don't understand when you say the website is not set up to allow this. We were able to do this in Aug as I found a weeks resort in Hawaii searching on the points website. This option was taken away from us in Sept. This is what is so frustrating, we were able to do this and now we're not. As we were one of the first members to switch to points and pay our conversion fee I feel we have been very patient. I know you have a lot of questions her to answer and I hope this problem can be solved soon. Lynn
Hello, it's Madge!
It is true that Canadian Points members were able to search online during the time that all Points transactions were performed in U.S. Dollars. Our Canadian members asked that we upgrade our Points system to accept Canadian currency, which we did. However, it is this currency difference that has prevented online access until the real-time credit card authorization is functional.

Hi, it's Madge, This, among other known problems, is being addressed by our technical staff as part of our overall initiative to improve our site's performance. We added a message to our home page that identifies several of these. ------------------ ~ Madge

Hello, Madge here,
For reasons of cost, we simply could not include this initiative this year. We do plan to make the necessary changes -- I just cannot give you a firm date as to when those changes will occur. ------------------ ~ Madge
